SUMMERSPACE
Drawing a parallel between the color manifesto 2022 Very Peri and statements about the choreographer Merce Cunningham and his dance technique, I found some similarities. Merce Cunningham is a pioneer in the field of objective dance, that is, dance that cultivates pure motion — movement for movement’s sake. Very Peri is emblematic of the global spirit of the times and the transitional period we are experiencing.
The main reference of my project was the performance Summerspace. Costumes and set for this performance were created by Robert Rauschenberg using the pointillism technique. Through an optical mixing of colors, a touch of Very Peri can be seen. Merce Cunningham came up with this production while searching for different ways to work with space.
