The exhibition feminism and text rethinks women’s position in Russia throughout the country’s history: from the Russian Empire to the USSR and modern Russia. The project draws parallels between different periods and shows the invariability of discrimination against women.

All works engage traditional women’s needlework, i.e., embroidery, sewing and other techniques. The entire exhibition is based on text: texts are used in most art objects, and educational cards are hung on the walls around the works.

All items react to different topics: the feminization of poverty, tabooed menstruations, sexual violence, domestic violence, expectations of a woman’s character, sisterhood, reproductive violence and relationship with one’s body and sexuality.
